Bogner – the origin of a winter sports brand
The fashion company Bogner is based on the top winter athlete Willy Bogner sr. back, who founded an import business for skis, accessories and knitwear from Norway in Munich in 1932. This laid the foundation for the sports-outdoor character of the fashion label. In the years that followed, Bogner managed to expand his business so quickly that he was able to outfit the German team at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen as well as helpers in the Olympic Village at the Summer Games in Berlin that same year with Bogner fashion.
By the way, Bogner was the German Olympic team's outfitter at all winter games until 2014. After Bogner's production facility was bombed out during the Second World War, the fashion house moved into the former building of a sauerkraut factory in Berg am Laim in 1950, where the company's headquarters are still located today. The Bogner House organized the first fashion show in 1948 in the traditional Munich Hofbräuhaus. In the post-war years, the company made a name for itself with sporty winter clothing in the upper price segment. Special trademarks of the Munich label were wedge trousers made of modern materials and the zipper pull in the shape of the letter “B”.
