Furla – Italian sophistication with a sense of the right time
Furla, the Italian fashion manufacturer, is a symbol of stylish, elegant and graceful bags, shoes and accessories for men and women. The collections combine traditional craftsmanship with current trends and innovative designs and have an eye for fine aesthetics. Aldo Furlanetto laid the foundation for the company, which is still family-run today, when he began selling fashionable women's accessories wholesale in 1927. The first shop for leather goods in Bologna followed in 1955. Because the business was well received and had a growing customer base, the sons and daughter Giovanna decided to launch and sell their own collections under the label. That was in the 1970s. Since then, Furla has established itself as a luxury label with bags etc. at affordable prices. Classics like the Furla Mini Bag, the Candy Bag or the sunglasses are in great demand.
Furla looks back on a long history. When Aldo Fulanetto and his wife Margherita opened their first shop in Bologna, Italy in the post-war period with the aim of providing women with high-quality leather goods and accessories, they certainly had no idea that their later label would one day achieve world fame. After the business was in great demand regionally and grew accordingly, the three children Giovanna, Carlo and Paolo Furlanetto took over the management and brought the first own collection of Furla bags onto the market. The style was ahead of its time from the start and quickly achieved success thanks to the unusual materials such as nylon and rubber as well as the unusual designs. Modern, independent and self-confident - Furla quickly aligned itself with the needs of the female target group and focused on the combination of high quality, aesthetics, clear lines and functionality paired with comparatively affordable prices in the luxury segment.
Furla conquers the world
At the beginning of the 1990s, Furla expanded using a sophisticated expansion strategy. The first stores opened in Rome, Paris and New York and were the first stores in a sales network. A big milestone followed when Paolo brought the Asian market on board. Today, Japan is one of Furla's strongest markets. Furla offers its collections in around 344 stores, numerous sales outlets, flag stores in Rome, London, Hong Kong and Beijing as well as in the online shop.
Anyone who knows it loves it: the Furla Metropolis has established itself as a real classic. The mini bag presents itself in a simple and angular design. The typical Furla closure sets a sophisticated accent. The leather bag is available in different colors and patterns. The Furla Candy Bag is at least as popular, but is made of PVC, is slightly transparent and is dominated by pastel colors. In 1999, Paolo founded the “Furla per L’Arte” prize, which promotes young Italian artists and has now become a prestigious award.
