The Missoni label is a family business and was founded in Italy in 1953 by the couple Rosita and Ottavio Missoni. The two initially produced knitwear in a small workshop near Milan. This new introduction gave the brand the nickname “Missoni – Master of Patterns”.

The first real success of the Missoni brand was a vertically knit sweater in 1955. The two founders of the company built on this success and continued to expand their product range of colorful fashion until they launched their first in 1966 in the venerable Teatro Gerolamo in Milan presented their own collection. This collection was a complete success throughout Italy.

From this point on, Missoni's concept was to produce fashion that primarily expressed youthful and sporty elegance.
