The creations of the fashion house founded by the Italian designer Valentino Garavani are still an epitome of Italian elegance and international glamour. The fashion label Valentino goes back to the Italian fashion designer Valentino Garavani. Valentino attended the fashion school of the Paris Haute Couture Association, one of the most renowned design studios in the world, and began producing fashion in the luxury segment in 1962. Two years earlier, Garavani founded the fashion company that still bears his first name in Rome with his business and sometimes life partner Giancarlo Giammetti. While Valentino was responsible for creative design in the company, his partner Giammetti took over management. The international success of the fashion label was not long in coming. An appearance at a fashion fair in Florence in 1962 helped the Italian luxury label achieve its breakthrough. In the late 1960s, the capital “V” became the fashion label’s famous official logo. In 1969, Valentino designed his first ready-to-wear women's line, followed three years later by his first men's collection. Valentino has also been a guest at the Paris fashion shows since 1975. And the extremely successful fragrance creations from Valentino have been around since 1977.
A star in Hollywood
With his exclusive style of maximum elegance, Valentino quickly found a lot of popularity among celebrities all over the world. Hollywood stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren and Elizabeth Taylor dressed in the chic gowns of the Italian star designer. Valentino fashion has been a fixture on the red carpet at many Hollywood galas and the annual Oscars. But queens and princesses such as Queen Paola of Belgium, Lady Diana and the Iranian Empress Farah Pahlavi were also enthusiastic fans of Valentino's creations.
