Diane von Furstenberg is an icon among American fashion designers. With the invention of the so-called wrap dress, she achieved a unique design coup in the mid-1970s. The wrap dress proved to be so successful and style-defining that today there is even a copy on display in the world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
